when i was learning which was years ago..i did not know about the extra stitches for turning and could not figure why my edges werent right..i also wasnt keeping count of stitches..i was so young. this would have saved me lots of grief :)

I felt the same way when I first started. Just keep practicing and you will get it. It does take some time but you will start the understand the stitches and how they work. You just put your hook in the next chain over, pull a loop through. You will have two loops on your hook. Then wrap the yarn over your hook again and pull through both loops on your hook. Do the same thing through your next chain. Keep practicing and you will get it.
